Walsall will be a sea of red, white and blue, say Walsall Council, as residents celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style over the Bank Holiday weekend – with twenty street parties taking place all over the borough.
This is double the amount of parties that were held for the Royal wedding last April.
The deadline for applications for street parties that require road closures was 23 May.
Budding revellers were asked to contact the borough’s Safety Advisory Group which will consider any safety issues.
Traffic management officers will also consider if a road closure is appropriate at the same time and inform the organiser of the decision.
The 20 parties that have been given permission so far over the four day holiday weekend period are:
Saturday 2 June – Daisy Bank Crescent, Walsall, Myatt Avenue, Aldridge, Greenhill Way, Aldridge.
Sunday 3 June – Greenwood Park, Aldridge, Hough Road, Pleck, Pershore Close / Tintern Way, Bloxwich, Westbourne Street, Walsall, Pomeroy Road / Princep Close, Pheasey, Hobart Drive, Walsall, Walsall Town Centre (Darwall Street / Leicester Street), Hay Hill, Orchard Hills, Aldridge.
Monday 4 June – Colliers Close, Willenhall, Orwell Road, Walsall, Valley Road, Streetly, Rectory Avenue, Darlaston, Burrowes Street, Walsall.
Tuesday 5 June – Hereford Close, Aldridge, Bank Street, Walsall (Walsall Arms Public House), St Francis Close, Pelsall, Valley Road, Bloxwich.
The Safety Advisory Group meeting on 25 May will finalise all applications.
