Council offers free safety check on Electric Blankets

With the cold weather now setting in, Walsall Council is offering an opportunity for local residents to have their electric blankets safety checked, free of charge.

Between Monday 1st October – Saturday 6th October, Trading Standards staff working with West Midlands Fire Service will be providing the facility at various venues across the borough.

It is important that electric blankets are checked regularly, especially if they are old or after long periods in storage, in case of wiring damage or other faults which might potentially cause fires or electrocution.

Local people are invited to telephone 01922 652246 to book an appointment to have their blanket checked.

During checking, qualified staff will repair minor faults free and a discount voucher will be issued to help replace unsafe blankets.
